Parenting Counseling

While parenting can be incredibly fulfilling, this role can also be met with immense struggles, isolation, and doubts. We can offer support to parents to better understand their own needs, and individual, family, and parenting values. We can support in building effective communication styles that build relationships and encourage healthy attachment.

Guiding Behavior Counseling has SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions) trained therapists to provide evidence-based interventions to parents in supporting children with anxiety disorders and OCD. Within this model, therapists support parents in building skills of supportive language within the family and gaining confidence to support their child’s own autonomy and self-regulation. SPACE can be provided as a short-medium term model to support parents in minimizing escalation and increasing healthy attachment between parents and child.

Guiding Behavior Counseling also specializes in understanding and supporting impacts of neurodiversity and the impact of diagnoses such as ADHD and high-functioning Autism within the family and parenting. Guiding Behavior Counseling can support parents in increasing understanding within their own unique family system and increasing compassion and health attachment between parents and with their children.
